It is indeed a sad loss that Maurice ( Jim ) has died. I spoke to him often until he moved into a hospice for the last couple of weeks. Even then he wrote me emails and said he was being looked after very well. I heard that until the last he didn't have any pain, so that is something good. He wasn't incapacitated for very long and indeed was able to enjoy a holiday cruise at Christmas.
He said he had had a really good life and regretted nothing.
I had known him ( as Maurice ) for over thirty years. He made all my jackets including the one on my avatar. I live in Germany but visited him about four times a year every time I was in England. I spent many a night there tied in a straitjacket. Maurice used one of my drawings as his logo and for his Christmas cards. We spent long hours discussing various designs and matters. We had many a photo session, and I must get around to posting those photos. I promise I'll do that!
I visited him a few times after he retired down to the coast. He had a great appartment there, but somehow it wasn't the "40 Fitz", - the address in London where I had spent many a happy hour.
Maurice was a good friend and it's a shame we all have to move on.
As Jacketbound has already written, - Jim was a pioneer in the field. He was the first to design revolutionary straitjackets and get them to us straitjacket fans. The quality and inventiveness of his jackets is seldom reached and there are so many cheap copies of his products available. Younger straitjacket fans probably don't realise just how Maurice ( Jim ) broke taboos and did groundbreaking work to make buying straitjackets and other restraints an easy, acceptable thing nowadays.
In one of the comments on his death I see that the Houdini Connections website is mentioned.
That is going to be carried on. A friend of Maurice's who is currently sorting out the estate, has been "schooled" by Maurice regarding the website and has all the access details.
He will make sure the site carries on and will be a lasting memory of a great man.

One of the best of your many great videos! I love the leather head to foot, the sound and the look of it, and this features some of your best struggling too. I can just watch it over and over, and cum pretty quickly while doing so. I've bound folks this way and been bound this way myself and it's heaven. VERY sexy...and I am very grateful!

yes a very sad day , when we lost Jim (Maurice)
I didnt get to know Jim until his later years, but at that time I was learning the ropes (jackets) so to speak, and he always had time to chat and advise , with all his wealth of experience and to listen to stories and adventures over a glass of wine or two, RIP my friend

They are still around. I've just bought a synthetic leather one from H&M for £40 - one can breathe fine through the zip. Real leather would be better of course, but at this price I can't complain. Photo to come soon.

Very sad news. I had not realised he was nearly 80. I hope his friends can ensure that an appreciation of his life is written and published in due course. I also hope that Houdini Connections remains online in some form - I'm sure I'm not alone in finding the insights discussed there so helpful.

i've simply been aware of jim through fetters, from a long time ago. the generation of more publicly identified fetish people is upon us. there will be more names to honor that gave us the lead. mine will be among the unknown, but i owe large chunks of my life to those who led before.

I never met Jim Stewart, but I was fortunate to have had quite a bit of cross Atlantic correspondence with over the years. He was always helpful and most gracious.

I ordered my first jacket from him about thirty years ago. We had a couple of letters back and forth getting everything just right. I told him what I wanted, he corrected a couple of things and then I waited for about a month. Then one day a glorious package arrived from England. I was very excited. Included in the package was a pinion strap for the back and a note from Jim saying. "You didn't order this, but I thought you needed it." That is the jacket you see in my avatar. About five years later I bought a more conventional black leather jacket and in more recent year several special ones, such as one of his John Bull jackets. His jackets make up a special part of the Straitjacket Floats web site.

So cheers to you Jim Stewart. We will all keep our straps one notch tighter in your honor.
